Kiké Hernández with a leadoff homer, Ryan Fitzgerald homers again
Nick Northcut also provided a solo shot in the eighth inning
Welcome to the Sox Dingrs Report for March 24, 2022!
The Red Sox and Orioles squared off on Thursday night, Boston was looking to get back into the win column. Unfortunately, the Orioles came away with the 8-5 victory, but that wasn’t before Kiké Hernández and Ryan Fitzgerald hit homers.
In the top of the first inning, Hernández got the scoring started with a leadoff home run off of Orioles starter Bruce Zimmermann. Hernández crushed the ball to the concession stands in deep left field.
Fitzgerald continued to have a torrid spring hitting his fourth home run. Fitzy’s two-run homer came in the second inning off Zimmerman, giving the Red Sox a 3-0 lead.

The 27-year-old infielder now leads the team with four home runs and nine RBIs.
Despite his offensive play, SoxProspects project Fitzgerald to return to Triple-A Worcester to start the season. However, with the expanded rosters from 26 to 28, he’s putting himself into the conversation to make the club.
Nick Northcut with a solo homer in the eighth inning
Nick Northcut also got in on the action later in the game. With the Sox down 7-4 in the top of the eighth, Northcut smacked a solo shot. The homer was crushed to dead center off corner Sox reliever Travis Lakins.
The Red Sox have now dropped two straight games since starting the spring 6-0. Boston will travel to North Port to take on the Braves at CoolToday Park on Friday afternoon. Tanner Houck will get the ball against Ian Anderson. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m., unfortunately only on Bally Sports South.
