Justin Turner’s wife provides positive update on his condition
Justin Turner was involved in a scary situation during the bottom of the first inning on Monday. The veteran was hit in the face by a fastball thrown by Tigers hurler Matt Manning.
Turner immediately dropped the dirt, bloodied and was taken to a local hospital. He treated at for “soft-tissue injuries” and is being monitored for a concussion. He is “stable, alert, and in good spirits considering the circumstances,” per the Red Sox public relations team.
On Monday evening, Turner’s wife, Kourtney provided an update on her husband’s condition.
“Thank you to everyone that reached out about Justin and sent prayers. We’re home now and he’s resting (okay - maybe listening to the replay of the game). 16 stitches and a lot of swelling but we are thanking God for no fractures & clear scans,” tweeted Kourtney.
The news is positive following an incredibly scary moment. The Red Sox will provide more updates on Turner’s condition as they become available.
