The Red Sox only made three trades around the deadline this year. Three of the four players acquired are up on the MLB roster at the moment, which leaves Justin Hagenman the lone man out. The main reason due to not being on the 40-man roster when he was acquired.
Hagenman has gotten off to a solid start in his Red Sox career, as he has scoreless outings in four of his five appearances.
“It’s been a good transition.” Hagenman told Beyond the Monster. “It’s still baseball, so I have been doing the same thing I have been doing all year and previous years for the Dodgers. The guys are awesome here and the staff has been good. Everyone has been welcoming me in and making it a pretty easy transition. It’s also a little closer to home for me which is nice. I haven’t been playing on the east coast in quite some time so it’s good in that aspect too.”
Every year when the trade deadline comes around, a ton of big leaguers are always swapping teams as contenders load up for a playoff run. You hear about the big leaguers as they are the main piece, yet there are always many more pieces to a trade than just one big name. Hagenman was no different, as he was the only player in the trade to not have made his MLB debut yet. He also was not expecting things to go the way they did during this year’s deadline for himself.
“I wasn’t exactly expecting the trade.” Hagenman said. “You know there is always a chance. I was on the road in Reno so I was there prepping for the day in weight room on a Tuesday and had gotten called into the manager’s office. It’s never easy since that was my first organization. I knew there was a good opportunity for me and obviously if they are going to trade for me, somebody sees something so I was excited right away.”

Just curious but do you think if he was going to be a quality player at the major league level that the Dodgers would have gotten rid of him? Oh I know he is going to be great and L A sent him to us because they feel really bad for how they ***ked the Tampa Travesty in the Betts trade.
