Jon Morosi comments on potential Xander Bogaerts link to the Diamondbacks
The Boston Red Sox have serious competition in bringing back All-Star shortstop Xander Bogaerts. One possible landing spot was the Philadelphia Phillies but Dave Dombrowski signed former Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner to an 11-year, $300 million deal on Monday.
With one of the top four shortstops off the board, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi thinks the Diamondbacks are a team to watch for Bogaerts services.
This morning on MLB Hot Stove on the MLB Network Morosi talked that Bogaerts could leave Boston.
“Bogaerts and DBacks, I think are one pairing to watch on the days ahead,” said Morosi.

This report comes on the heels of Pete Abraham’s tweet that Boston has yet to make a competitive offer to the star shortstop.
“News: Two sources say Xander Bogaerts has been meeting in person with interested teams this weekend and that the #RedSox have not made a competitive offer. My question was: Have they screwed this up? The answer was yes. Fixable? Maybe, but not looking very good right now,” tweeted Abraham on Sunday.
Boston has reportedly made two offers to Bogaerts since the end of the regular season.
The Diamondbacks expressing potential serious interest in Bogaerts is interesting considering they have Jordan Lawlar as their top shortstop prospect. Lawlar was drafted by the Backs back in 2021 with the sixth overall selection. The five-tool shortstop projects similar to Royals Bobby Witt Jr.

The Diamondbacks are in the market for a veteran to add to their young roster. Bogaerts fits that description, however, it remains to be seen if Arizona general manager Mike Hazen can close the deal and sign him.
Keep in mind, Hazen was with the Red Sox organization when they initially signed the Aruba native.
The information around Bogaerts is extremely fluid and it’s incredibly likely another national reporter will come out with a new report in the coming minutes.
