Joe Flacco looks to lead the Browns past the Texans in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs
Joe Flacco will lead the Cleveland Browns into Houston on Saturday afternoon. The Browns are hot right now, winners of four of its last five, with the veteran Flacco earning the four wins.
Flacco has given the Browns life after Deshaun Watson went down with a shoulder injury. The veteran has completed 60 percent of his passes for 1,616 yards for 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
It’s been nearly a decade since Flacco has played in the postseason. Myles Garrett took a playful swipe at Flacco, referring to him as a pumpkin ahead of the game on Saturday afternoon.
“For a guy like that it’s nothing new. He’s won at home, he’s won away,” Garrett said. “Just hoping he doesn’t expire before we get to the Super Bowl.”
Flacco has won eight games on the road in the postseason. That is good for second all-time in the NFL - he only trails Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.
The Browns will benefit from Flacco’s playoff experience and success.
“I think it just goes back to doing the basics the right way. Not overthinking what it means to go on the road, just going and playing a good football game,” Flacco said on Tuesday, January 9. “And when the dust settles, like I said, you pick your head up and see where you are.”
Less than two months ago, Flacco was watching football games at home. The 15-year veteran has taken the Browns fan base by storm will look to add to this storybook season in Cleveland.
Flacco wants to hoist the Lombardi Trophy one more time and he was asked what it would feel like to get a shot to do that as a member of the Browns.
“Oh, my God,” Flacco said of the possibility to reporters.
“If you do let that creep in a little bit,” he said. “Then there would be so many special things about it. It’s like when you have your first kid and then you think like, ’Oh man, I can’t love anything really this much. And then you have another kid and you realize, ‘OK, I was wrong.’
“It’d probably be a little bit like that. Not to compare it to my kids, but there’s something special about that one. And if it were to happen again, there would be something that was uniquely special about this one.”
