Over the last year, Jhostynxon Garcia has become one of the Red Sox’s most well-known prospects. The talented 22-year-old has made headlines with his bat and nickname that was featured on Jeopardy. In May, Garcia has gotten his first taste of Triple-A and has been a hits machine.
Through his first 24 at-bats for the WooSox, Garcia has posted a .417 batting average and driven in five runs. Three of his ten hits have gone for extra bases, including two home runs. Against more advanced pitching, the Venezuelan native has not looked overwhelmed and has consistently made hard contact.
While Garcia has been impressive, his success comes as no surprise. He has hit at every level in the minors with no signs of slowing down. While splitting time between three levels last year, Garcia posted a .286 batting average and drove in a career-high 66 runs. He is on pace to match those numbers with plenty of time left in the regular season.
As the 2025 campaign continues, Garcia will be a player to watch. The Red Sox offense has struggled and could use a spark. However, the next player expected to get called up is Roman Anthony, the best prospect in baseball. If Garcia continues to build on his play and Worcester, his time in the majors could come at some point this summer.
Currently, Garcia is ranked as the fifth-best prospect in the organization. He trails only Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Franklin Arias, and Luis Perales. That could change later this year when Mayer or Anthony lose their prospect status.
Although Garcia’s sample size in Triple-A is small, he couldn’t asked for a better start. With him in the heart of the lineup, the WooSox offense will be hard to face this summer.
Get him a first baseman’s glove…
