New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his first statement, via his Instagram after going down with a season ending Achilles injury on Monday night.
Rodgers thanked the countless number of people who reached out to him since his injury.
“I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love,” said Rodgers.
The 39-year-old did not disclose what his future holds, but did say he plans to “rise yet again.”
Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Wednesday he would be surprised if Rodgers retired.
“I’d be shocked if this is the way he (Rodgers) is going to go out.”

“Thank you to every person that has reached out, called, texted, DM’d, connected through a friend, etc.,” he said. “It has meant a ton to me, and I’ll try and get back to all of you soon. I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today. The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again.”
