On Saturday, Jeremy Swayman was rewarded for his stellar play as the Bruins' goaltender was selected to the All-Star Game for the first time in his career. He was one of the 12 players voted in by the fans. Through 42 games, the Bruins have recorded 59 points and Swayman has been at the center of their success.
In 23 games, the Anchorage native has posted a 2.49 GAA and a .918 save percentage. He has added two shutouts to his resume with over 30 games left on the schedule. While Swayman has been a human highlight reel, he has continued to improve his game.
Entering play on Sunday, the former fourth-round pick has the fifth-highest save percentage in the NHL. He is also tied for fourth in shutouts while splitting playing time with Linus Ullmark. Due to Swayman's play, the Bruins again have one of the best goalie tandems in hockey.
Additionally, the University of Maine product only needs 12 more wins to match his career high. That total is well within reach as the Bruins look for redemption following last season's early playoff exit.
For Swayman, his latest accomplishment holds special meaning. When asked about being named an All-Star, Swayman said, "After dealing with what I did this summer with arbitration, hearing things that a player should never hear, it feels pretty special to be in this situation."
Additionally, the Bruins goalie will not be alone as he takes in the All-Star festivities. He will be joined by David Pastrnak, who will be making his fourth All-Star appearance. The 2024 NHL All-Star Game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3 and will be held at Scotiabank Arena.
