Jay Groome, who is listed as the Red Sox number 11 prospect was promoted to the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox on Thursday, the team announced.
Less than 24 hours later, the 23-year-old would be on the bump for the WooSox.
Groome had earned a 3-4 record with a 3.52 ERA with 81 strikeouts over 76 and two thirds innings of work for Double-A Portland.
In his first career outing for the WooSox, Groome worked six scoreless innings over five hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
Between Double-A and Triple-A on the year, Groome now has 86 strikeouts over 82 and two thirds innings of work.
Now in Triple-A, Groome now has the ability to show off his talents at the highest minor league level.
