Jarren Duran, the Boston Red Sox number four overall prospect gets another shot at the big-league level, and it will happen today. Earlier today, we wrote about the future of Duran, quickly after that article was made public the news broke that Duran would in fact be re-called to Boston, according to Alex Speier.
In his 15 games this season with Triple-A Worcester he has slashed .397/.478/.638 with an OPS of 1.116. In the 58 at-bats he has two home runs and 11 runs batted in along with seven stolen base and has collected 23 hits along the way. In his career at the minor level, he has 26 home runs and 120 runs batted in with an average of .312 with 93 stolen bases.
Last year before being promoted to Boston, Duran appeared in 60 games for Worcester where he had 16 home runs with 36 runs batted in and an average of .258 with 16 stolen bases.
In 33 games for Boston last season, Duran hit two home runs and drove in 10. He also collected two triples and three doubles, but he did strike out 40 times with a .215 average in 107 total at-bats.
The main question is this, will he stick with Boston long-term, or if he struggles at the plate this go around with Boston, will they trade him away or send him back to Triple-A? That question remains unanswered — for now.
