Through the first three months of the NHL season, Jake DeBrusk has been a bright spot on a dominant Bruins team. The Bruins second line has terrorized opponents, and DeBrusk has been a crucial part of that, as Boston owns the best record in the NHL. While there is still plenty of hockey left to be played, the 2015 draftee is making his mark.
In 30 games this season, the former first-round pick has 23 points, including 11 assists. DeBrusk has been effective on the power play with nine points which is his highest total since the 2019-2020 campaign. Regardless of the situation, he is making an impact.
Although the Bruins winger has not recorded a point in three games, he has made his presence felt. In that span, DeBrusk has landed two hits and blocked two shots. On December 11th, against the Las Vegas Golden Knights and his former coach Bruce Cassidy, DeBrusk landed six hits and had one goal.
While the season is far from over, DeBrusk is off to one of the best starts of his career. He only needs 20 points to match his career high, and he has not been afraid of shooting the puck. Through thirty games, he has landed 90 shots on net.
As the Bruins look to continue their red-hot start, DeBrusk will be a player to watch. During the 2022-2023 campaign, he has helped spark Boston’s secondary scoring. The 26-year-old has also been more consistent, which was an issue in the past.
Entering play on Thursday, DeBrusk has the sixth most points on the Bruins roster. That is the type of production Boston expects to see out of their talented winger. DeBrusk has also come through in clutch situations with two game-winning goals.
In his sixth NHL season, DeBrusk has shown encouraging signs. It has been a welcoming development for the Bruins as they look to end their championship drought.
