‘I told you we were coming’ - Deion Sanders said following Colorado's win over Nebraska
Coach Prime has taken the college football world by storm.
Deion Sanders has led his Colorado Buffaloes to two straight wins to open the college football season.
Colorado showed off it’s offense last week knocking off No.22 ranked TCU, 45-42. The Buffaloes followed that first win up with a commanding 36-14 win over arch rival Nebraska Cornhuskers from Folsom Field in Boulder.
To open the game, the Buffaloes struggled on offense, the Nebraska defense was able to keep quarterback Shedeur Sanders in check.
After three first-half Nebraska turnovers, the Buffaloes took a 13-0 lead at the half. In the second half, Colorado put together a few drives that slowed down Nebraska’s defense.
Sanders threw for 393 yards and tossed two touchdowns. Xavier Weaver was his top target, he caught 10 passes for 170 yards and a toucdown.
Weaver caught a 12-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter, which put the cherry on top of their best drive of the afternoon, a 10-play, 75-yard drive lead Colorado to a 20-7 lead.
Following the win, Sanders was interviewed by FOX Sports’ Jenny Taft and was asked what college football can expect the remainder of the season.
"I don't think I stumbled or stuttered when I told you we were coming,” said Sanders.
During the interview, Sanders discussed the performance of his defense which forced four key turnovers in the game. Three of these turnovers came at the expense of Nebraska quarterback Jeff Sims.
"They played their butts off," said Sanders. "It was just a couple of personnel things we need to fix, we're still going to go take a look. Just giving up that big play at the end of the game, we hate stuff like that, coaches do. But overall, I'm so proud of our kids, I'm so proud of our school, I'm so proud of our alumni."
ESPN will host College GameDay in Boulder for the first time since 1996. Colorado will play their in-state rivals, the Colorado State Rams.
