Homers and strong pitching lift the Greenville Drive
Nick Northcut and Joe Davis homer again
If hitting four homers and driving in 11 combined were not enough for one game, maybe hitting a combined two homers and three RBI would be. Nick Northcut and Joe Davis kept the pedal to the floorboard in Greenville’s 3-2 win over Asheville.
Pitching prospect, Chih-Jung Liu had one of his best outings of the season for the High-A club. The righty worked five strong innings only allowing three hits and no runs while striking out a season-tying nine. The only other time that Liu struck out nine was on April 19. He has averaged three-to-five strikeouts a game over two-to-four innings of work.
Northcut who hit his team leading 20th home run on Saturday, went one-for-three with a run scored and two RBI. He also leads the club in RBI with 45.
Joe “Big Boy” Davis hit his ninth home run of the year and drove in a run while going one-for-three on the evening.
Greenville goes for their fourth straight win in the series finale against Asheville on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3:05 P.M.
