Greenville Strong pitching helps them earn the win
Greenville had strong outings on Thursday night
On Thursday night the Greenville Drive entered only winning one game out of their seven first games played in June. Only one of those games they were blown out and it was a 10-5 loss to Winston-Salem.
So to say that the Drive needed a strong performance from their lineup and pitching staff entering Thursday was an understatement. However, the bottom of the lineup and the pitching staff on Thursday did not disappoint.
Getting the call to start to the night for Greenville was Wyatt Olds. The six-foot righty entered with an 0-5 record for the club and walked away with the no-decision after being pulled after allowing a run on a hit and striking out six over five innings. He exited the game prior to Greenville scoring all six runs in the sixth inning.
Olds now has 54 strikeouts over 43 and a third innings of work. He lowered his ERA to 7.06 on the year.
Working out of relief, and earning his second win of the season was Jordan DiValerio.
DiValerio worked three innings out of the pen in which he allowed only a run on two hits while striking out five. He now has 25 strikeouts over 25 and two thirds innings.
Alex Binelas went one-for-four with a run scored and a RBI, his 33rd of the year.
Nick Decker went one-for-three with a run scored and a RBI, his 10th of the year.
Tyler Esplin went one-for-four with a run scored and a RBI, his fifth of the year.
Alex Erro went one-for-three with two RBI, his 12th of the year.
Greenville earned their 20th win of the year and they will look to build off of this victory for the remainder of the season.
