Franchy Cordero set the tone for the Red Sox offense with four hits and two steals in win over the Blue Jays
Cordero would finish the series 5-for7 in Toronto
Franchy Corderoβs bat was a big reason the Red Sox were able to defeat the Blue Jays in the rubber match of their series Wednesday night.
Cordero went 4-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases and a run scored. The first baseman accounted for half of the Red Sox hits.
Cordero led off the top of the third with a bunt infield single to the third base side. He would then steal second and advance to third after Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk over threw Bo Bichette.
Rob Refsnyder would hit a sac-fly to center scoring Cordero.
The 27-year-old reached on a single in the fifth inning. In the top of seventh he crushed a double to deep right center and then in the top of the ninth singled to center. He would also swipe another bag in the ninth inning.
Alex Verdugo was the hero with a massive two run homer off Alek Manoah. The Blue Jays starter has looked like a Cy Young candidate this season. Verdugo and Cordero were two players who picked up the Red Sox lineup after two defeats.
Cordero would finish the series 5-for-7 and his offensive production was a nice shot in the arm for the lineup. He's gone 13-for-34 (.382) in his last 11 games. Overall, Cordero is slashing .252/.331/.413 with three homers, 20 RBIs, 23 runs scored, 12 doubles and a triple over 163 plate appearances.
