Franchy Cordero hits his third homer in six games
One of the things the Red Sox have struggled with offensively the last few weeks has been hitting home runs. Franchy Cordero seems to be the only Red Sox hitter with any power in his bat.
Cordero hit his third home run in six games on Friday night against the Rays. The left-handed hitter slugger crushed a 362-foot homer to deep right field around the Pesky Pole. The solo shot gave the Red Sox their second run of the night.
The Red Sox have been struggling to hit the ball out of the park. Last week J.D. Martinez talked about his and the teams power outage.
“The offense is just stuck right now,” J.D. Martinez said. “We’re really not going forward. This is a potent lineup with three guys in the middle of the order [referring to himself, Rafael Devers, and Xander Bogaerts] that really drive the ball and really kind of aren’t doing that right now. It’s kind of just making it one of those offenses that is station to station right now.
“As an offense, I believe we’re underperforming.”
