Franchy Cordero belts grand slam; Brayan Bello makes rehab start
Cordero belts grand slam for WooSox
On Friday night, the WooSox (58-56) in Rochester (51-63) for another series game in where there was a rehabbing Brayan Bello on the mound for the WooSox.
In his rehab start, Bello worked four 1/3 innings where he allowed only one run on three hits and walked two with five strikeouts.
Bello threw the max of 80 pitches allowed by the Red Sox in his rehab outing. Of the 80 pitches, he threw 50 strikes. He faced 18 batters and recorded four groundouts and two fly outs.
Bello may have been the star on the mound, but Franchy Cordero was the star for the WooSox on the evening.
Cordero belted his seventh home run of the year for the WooSox. It was a grand slam that put the club up 6-1 after four innings.
The pitch was right down the heart of the plate where Cordero could extend his arms and he did just that sending the ball over the left center field wall.
Cordero now has 34 RBIs on the year and is batting over .300 at the Triple-A level over 30 games since being optioned back to the club earlier this year.
The WooSox won the game, 9-3.
