Astros ace Framber Valdez tossed a no-hitter, shutting down the Guardians offense, 2-0 at Minute Maid Park.
Valdez faced the minimum 27 batters, only issuing a walk to Guardians outfielder Oscar Gonzalez. He retired the first 12 batters faced before the walk.
The left-hander throws the league’s third no-hitter of the season.
Valdez finished the game with seven strikeouts while throwing just 93 pitches. It was the third-fewest pitches in a no-hitter or perfect game since 1988, according to research by ESPN Stats & Information.
The southpaw’s no-hitter is the Astros 16th all-time. It also comes on the heels of the Astros acquiring Mets ace Justin Verlander earlier on Tuesday afternoon.
Valdez’ impressive start comes after he allowed eight hits and six runs, both season highs, in 3 2/3 innings of a 13-5 loss to Texas in his last outing.
The Astros close out their series with Cleveland in a matinee game on Wednesday.
