Former Red Sox reliever Tyler Danish signs with the New York Yankees
Former Red Sox reliever Tyler Danish is on his way to the Bronx Bombers. Danish and the Yankees agreed to a minor-league deal that includes an invite to spring training. The deal was first reported by WFAN’s Sweeney Murti.
The right-hander pitched his only season with the Red Sox in 2022. He posted a 5.13 ERA across 40.1 innings in 32 games, finishing with a 3-1 record. Danish missed 45 games after suffering a right forearm strain in July.
Boston signed Danish last February to a minors deal. The right-handed hurler was added to the club’s 40-man roster before Opening Day and was called up from Triple-A Worcester soon after.
The Florida native will provide the Yankees depth in their bullpen and upper minors next season. Danish features a five-pitch mix per Baseball Savant, a sinker, curveball, changeup, fastball and slider. His curveball was his most effective pitch, holding opposing hitters to a .175 batting average against.
Danish is a veteran of four big league seasons, spent with the White Sox and Red Sox.
