Former Red Sox reliever Ryan Brasier has “talked” with the Yankees, who have interest in possibly adding the free agent, New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported.
The 36-year-old right-hander remains unsigned this winter after a strong second-half of the year with the Dodgers. The Red Sox designated Brasier for assignment on May 14, he went unclaimed and joined the Dodgers on June 4.
Brasier appeared in 39 games for the Dodgers, posting a 0.70 ERA while allowing just three earned runs over 38 2/3 innings. The veteran enjoyed a career resurgence in Los Angeles by adding a cutter to his arsenal.
“Just working on the cutter and getting my slider where I want it,” Brasier told MassLive back in August. “But just trying to pound the strike zone with my best stuff. Results play out as they will but really just trying to fill up the zone.”
During his tenure in Boston, Brasier posted a 4.55 ERA in 222 regular season games over 209 2/3 innings from 2018-2023.
The Dodgers have remained connected to Brasier this offseason. Los Angeles is looking to add a right-handed reliever to their bullpen.
