The Dodgers and free agent reliever Joe Kelly are in an agreement on a one-year deal, per FanSided’s Robert Murray and Audacy’s Rob Bradford.
“Free-agent reliever Joe Kelly and the Los Angeles Dodgers are ‘very close’ to an agreement, according to sources familiar with the situation. All indications are that a deal will get done,” posted Murray on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Kelly became a free agent this offseason after his $9.5 million club option was declined last month. The Dodgers bought out the righty for $1 million and the veteran hit the open market.
The Dodgers acquired Kelly along with starter Lance Lynn at the MLB trade deadline.
The 35-year-old posted a 2-5 record with a 4.12 ERA across the board. Still an elite strikeout artist, he punched out 60 batters in 39.1 total innings.
The California native will re-join the Dodgers bullpen that is anchored by Evan Phillips, Brusdar Graterol and Blake Treinen.
Kelly has pitched 12 big league seasons with the Cardinals, Red Sox, White Sox and Dodgers. The righty owns a career 53-37 record with a 3.95 ERA and is a two-time World Series champion.
