During his time in the majors, Corsi had a 22-24 record in 368 games, seven saves in 481+1⁄3 innings pitched. In the emotional interview with Burton, Corsi spoke about his diagnosis and how he was able to walk his daughter Julianne down the aisle at her wedding this past October.
“I’m at peace,” Corsi said. “I know if I die, I’m going to a better place. That’s the No. 1 thing. I feel sorry for everybody I’ll leave behind.”
Corsi spoke about the one regret that he had regarding his cancer diagnosis which was not getting a routine health check, including a colonoscopies.
“I made a mistake when I was younger. Not getting a colonoscopy,” he said. “Should have done it. If you’re out there, don’t wait. Don’t be stupid. I was a professional athlete. I thought I was invincible, you know what I mean, strong. And you’re not. Cancer is not prejudiced to anybody.”
One of Corsi’s former teammates Dennis Eckersley called him via FaceTime over the weekend to wish him well. Since the video interview completed by WBZ, Corsi’s condition has taken a turn for the worse and is in the hospital.
