Falmouth, Cotuit and Wareham bolster rosters heading into Thursday
Kayfus, Cole and Taylor headline group of six newcomers
A number of roster moves were made across the league late Wednesday night that trickled into the early-morning hours of Thursday.
Here are those moves, broken down by team:
Falmouth: Signed and activated Cole Roland, signed and activated Jacob Walsh, signed and activated Brayden Taylor
Cotuit: Activated CJ Kayfus, signed and activated Zachary Cole
Wareham: Signed and activated Cameron Weston
Stat outlook:
Roland went 2-1 and posted a 3.90 ERA this past season at Dartmouth. He struck out 37 across 30 innings of work. Walsh hit .295 with six home runs and 38 RBIs in his freshman season at Oregon. Taylor has hit over .300 in each of his two seasons at TCU, most recently hitting .314 with 13 homers while driving in 50 runs in 2022.
Kayfus put together a stunning season at Miami (FL), as he hit .366 with eight home runs and 51 RBIs through 60 games. He also swiped a team-high 16 bases, making him a perfect fit in Cotuit, where head coach Mike Roberts loves to be aggressive on the base paths. Cole also posted great numbers, coming off a season in which he hit .361 with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs at Ball State. He led the MAC in slugging percentage (.727).
Weston made 20 appearances at Michigan here in 2022, 11 of which were starts. He went 5-4 with a 4.74 ERA, surrendering 49 runs (43 earned) on 92 hits through 81 2/3 innings. He walked 38 and struck out 92, good for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.42.
