Through the first three months of the 2022-2023 campaign, the Boston Bruins have arguably been the best team in the NHL. While they have been racking up wins, their future is bright due to the talent in the AHL. One player who has stood out above the rest is Fabian Lysell.
The former first-round pick has gotten off to an impressive start with 19 points in 20 games. During Lysell's first taste of AHL action, he has been a scoring machine with eight goals. In a new league, alongside new teammates, he has made the transition seem effortless.
Entering the 2022-2023 campaign, the Swedish native was coming off a productive season in the WHL, where his talent was on full display. He averaged more than a point per game and thrived in high-pressure situations. In 12 postseason games last season, he had 21 points.
While his NHL debut is still weeks away, Lysell is showing why he is at the center of the Bruins future. Boston does not have many prospects with his ceiling who would be able to replace veterans such as David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron.
During his time in Providence, the 2021 draftee has been electric with the puck and showcased his playmaking ability. His speed has allowed him to create scoring opportunities and made Lysell and matchup nightmare for opponents. He currently ranks second on the Providence Bruins in goals, assists, and points.
It is only a matter of time before Lysell gets the call to the NHL. When that happens, Bruins fans across New England will mark his debut on their calendars. In the AHL, Lysell is showing why the Bruins future is bright with him leading the way.
