Enmanuel Valdez hits sixth homer with the WooSox
Emmanuel Valdez broke the scoreless tie between WooSox and Buffalo Bisons with a solo homer over the right field wall. Valdez’s homer, his sixth with the WooSox came in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The 23-year-old Valdez now has 27 homers and 100 RBIs total on the season. He has split time between the Astros and Red Sox organization.
Valdez came over in a trade from the Astros prior to the MLB trade deadline. He is currently ranked as the Red Sox No. 16 prospect according to Baseball America.
“Acquired from the Astros in the Christian Vazquez trade, Valdez has been one of the most productive hitters in the minor leagues this season. He's a bat-first infielder with a good combination of power and contact but major defensive questions. He's almost a major league ready hitter who needs to be added to the 40-man roster this winter,” per Baseball America.
Valdez has had a very a strong minor league season. He will need to show he can be consistent offensively next season to be in the conversation for a potential future big league call-up.
