Elias Lindholm continues to roll after slow start
When the Bruins signed Elias Lindholm to a seven-year deal over the summer, he was expected to be one of their main offensive weapons. After a slow start, he has started to round into form. With the Bruins playing some of their best hockey of the season, the veteran center has been a key part of their success.
In his last four games, Lindholm has three goals, which matches his total from the first two months of the season. He has been more aggressive with the puck, attempting 20 shots, which surpasses his total from November. While his overall statistics may not jump off the page, he has finally started to look like the player the Bruins were hoping would spark the offense.
Due to his recent surge, Lindholm has 18 points, the third most on the team. He trails only Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, who are both averaging nearly a point per game. With each shift, Lindhom’s confidence spikes, leading to his improved play.
“I’ve been feeling a little bit better on the ice, and obviously making more plays, feeling more confident,” Lindholm told reporters on Tuesday night. “Yeah, everything is slowly getting better.”
As the Bruins look to climb in the standings, they will need Lindholm to continue his recent play. The Bruins are at their best when all their lines are working, which has not been the case at times this season. With Marchand, Pastrnak, and Lindholm all in sync, this team is hard to stop.
With three games left this month, Lindholm only needs one more point to match his total from November. Due to his recent play, that mark should be easy for him to reach, which would put him in a good place heading into the new year. For the Bruins, that is a welcome sign as they look to secure a playoff spot.
