The Los Angeles Dodgers have named former Red Sox outfielder Daniel Nava manger of their High-A Great Lakes affiliate.
The 39-year-old enters his third season with the Dodgers organization. He was the bench coach last year for Rancho Cucamonga after managing the Arizona Complex League Dodgers in 2021.
Nava played five seasons with the Red Sox, from 2010-2015. He also had stops with the Rays, Angels, Royals and Phillies over the course of seven big league seasons.
The Calif. native made his big-league debut with the Red Sox in 2010. Nava made an immediate impact, blasting a grand slam on the very first pitch he saw at Fenway Park.
The 2013 World Series champion also hit one of the most memorable homers in team history.
Nava hit an emotional three-run home run during the first game back in Boston following the Marathon Bombings. His homer wound up being the eventual game winner.
Nava will be the High-A Great Lakes 10th manager in the team’s 16 year history.
