DBacks Ketel Marte ties postseason record with 17-game hitting streak, wins free Taco Bell for everyone
Ketel Marte is becoming Mr. October out in the desert.
Marte has at least one hit in each of his postseason games plated. He extended his hitting streak ti 17 games with a fifth-inning RBI double off Nathan Eovaldi during Game 1 of the World Series.
The DBacks electric infielder’s hitting streak is the longest to begin a postseason career. The switch-hitter tied the overall postseason record set by Yankees’ Hank Bauer (1956-58 World Series), the Yankees’ Derek Jeter (1998-99) and Boston’s Manny Ramirez (2003-04).
His streak began in 2017, when he went 3-for-5 for the DBacks in their NL Wild Card win over the Rockies.
“It stays in the mind. Memories,” Marte said postgame.
The 30-year-old is now hitting an impressive .345 with two homers and nine RBIs in 13 postseason games. He smashed a curveball offering from Eovaldi 402 feet off the base of the wall in right-center to score Geraldo Perdomo.

Free Tacos for Everyone
The “steal a base, steak a taco” promotion from Taco Bell has become synonymous with the World Series. The first stolen base in the Fall Classic clinches everyone a free taco from the fast-food giant. In order to be eligible, patrons must register for their rewards program on their official website.
Marte reached base on a fielder’s choice in the top of the third inning after Corbin Carroll scored from third base. With Gabriel Moreno at the plate, Marte took off for second, awarding everyone with tacos.
Two former Red Sox players have also helped win free tacos for everyone, Jacoby Ellsbury was the first to swipe a bag back in 2007 against the Rockies and Mookie Betts followed suit during the 2018 World Series against the Dodgers.
