Over the last few days, David Pastrnak has provided a reminder of why he is one of the best players in the NHL. The superstar winger was a points machine as the Bruins went 3-0 last week. Pastrnak played a crucial role and was recognized for his efforts.
The former first-round was named the NHL's Second Star of the Week on Monday. In three games, Pastrnak scored five goals and dished out two assists. As the Bruins offense scored 17 goals Pastrnak made an impact on a nightly basis. The stretch also included the 16th hat trick of his career.
While the 2014 draftee continued to frustrate opponents, he showed how good a teammate he is. On Saturday night, Coyle played a crucial role in Pastrnak's hat trick, which did not go unnoticed.
“He got me back. I had a couple opportunities to score a hat trick earlier in the season. It was kind of tough, was stuck on two goals for long time, so it was nice to get the first hat trick of the season,” Pastrnak told reporters after Boston’s win over Colorado. “And yeah, I definitely told him thanks right away when he passed me the puck.”
Due to his recent scoring surge, the 27-year-old has 30 goals and 36 through 45 games. That leads the Bruins with more than 30 games left before the start of the postseason play.
As long as Pastrnak continues his constant excellence, a few more weekly awards should be on the horizon before the final whistle of the 2023-2024 campaign blows.
