David Krejci was in vintage form in Bruins season opener
The Bruins debuted their new Czech line during the preseason and they exploded for eight points. On Wednesday night, the Bruins new second line once again combined for eight points. A big reason for the success of this new line has been center David Krejci.
The veteran Krecji returned to the Bruins with a bang scoring a goal and adding two assists. “I think he’s only gonna get better, and he already looked pretty good out there to me,” David Pastrnak said about Krejci.
The 36-year-old went 531 days since he last scored for the Bruins. He had 17:53 of ice time and started to make his presence felt when he assisted on Patrice Bergeron’s goal.
Krejci is showing he can still play at a high level even after missing all of last year in the NHL.
“Yeah, sometimes I have fun. Sometimes I don’t,” Krejci told reporters after the win. “In the second period when I back-checked twice and they scored, that wasn’t fun. But yeah, when I have the puck on my tape, and I make some plays, then that’s fun.”
Krejci will enter his 16th season with Boston and looks revitalized with his new line mates. He is especially happy to be playing with Bergeron and Pastrnak again.
“Who wouldn’t want to play with one of the best players in the world?” Krejci said. “I was like enough that I got to play with him on the same line in the world championship. That was kind of the turning point in my decision, coming back to the NHL. Just playing with him and seeing what we could do together. That was pretty cool.”
