David Hamilton out of the WooSox's lineup on Wednesday
WooSox infielder David Hamilton has been the club’s most productive hitter since the season has started. He leads the club in batting average (.319), home runs (four) and stolen bases (11).
The WooSox top offensive threat was held out of Wednesday night’s game against the RailRaiders after being hit by a pitch the night prior.
Hamilton was hit by a pitch near his right scapula in the bottom of the ninth by reliever Deivi Garcia.
WooSox manager Chad Tracy scratched Hamilton from the lineup on Wednesday as a precaution following his treatment with the trainers.
“Hammy’s sore from the hit by pitch,” said Tracy pregame to reporters.
“It got him right in his scap, right on his scap bone. He feel’s fine swinging, but he’s got a little weakness (making a fist),” added Tracy.
The WooSox want to see Hamilton show he can hold his strength on his right side before putting him back into the lineup.
Tracy doesn’t expect this to sideline the 25-year-old for very long. Hamilton has been getting treatment and should be back in the lineup soon, according to Tracy.
