When you think of Red Sox prospects who have speed plus the ability to make a difference on the defensive side, no one other than David Hamilton should come to mind.
Hamilton, 24, was part of the Red Sox package deal where the Milwaukee Brewers traded Jackie Bradley Jr., and Alex Binelas to Boston for Hunter Renfroe.
On Tuesday night, Hamilton went two-for-three with an RBI and a walk along with a stolen base. He now has 44 stolen bases on the year, which lead all of Red Sox.
The most stolen bases by Hamilton in a game is three and that has happened four times this season with the most recent one being on July 24.
Surprisingly though, Hamilton’s 44 stolen bases isn’t leading the minors.
In the California League, Wilderd Pationo has 56 stolen bases while Max Ferguson has 51. Hamilton would rank third in the California League in stolen bases.
In the Florida State League, Omar De Los Santos has 48 stolen bases. Hamilton would rank second in the FSL in stolen bases.
In the Carolina League, Luis Valdez has 48 stolen bases. Hamilton would rank second in the Carolina League in stolen bases.
In the Midwest League, Nasim Nunez has 46 stolen bases. Hamilton would rank second in the Midwest League in stolen bases.
In the Pacific Coast League, Bubba Thompson has 46 stolen bases. Hamilton would rank second in the PCL in stolen bases.
Hamilton however leads the Eastern League with the next closest being Anthony Volpe with 35 stolen bases.
Hamilton would lead the International League, Southern League, Texas League, South Atlantic League, and the Northwest League if he was on any of those clubs rosters.
