With the Arizona Fall League in full swing, there have been plenty of reasons for Red Sox fans to be excited. Prospects such as Nathan Hickey, Felix Cepeda, and Wyatt Olds have impressed so far. However, they are not the only ones, as Corey Rosier has been on fire at the plate and showcased his speed.
Rosier started his AFL career by hitting safely in each of his first six starts for the Glendale Desert Dogs. Through his first 24 at-bats, the former 12th-round pick posted a .360 batting average and showed some power with two extra-base hits. After an impressive season in the minors, he has picked up where he left off.
During his first full year in the Red Sox system, Rosier posted a .285 batting average while splitting time between Portland and Worcester. While the Maryland native was an on-base machine, he tied his career high in RBI with 41 and showed more power than ever before with 38 extra-base hits. He also made a difference with his legs, which has been on full display in Arizona.
Although Rosier’s sample size has been small, he has already stolen three bases for the Desert Dogs. As a result, he has been hard to keep out of the lineup and made an impact every game. His versatility has also stood out as Rosier has seen time at all three outfield positions and gotten three starts in center field.
As the fall season continues, Rosier will be a player to watch. He finished the 2023 campaign in Worcester and saw his stock rise due to his ability to get on base. That has continued over the last two weeks, which is an encouraging sign for the Red Sox as their focus shifts to 2024 and beyond.
