Franchy Cordero recalled to Boston as 27th man in Williamsport for Little League Classic
Cordero recalled to Boston
**Update: When this story originally posted it was in fact due to reports stating Cordero was replacing Hosmer due to an apparent injury, however, the club needed to add a 27th man since the Red Sox will be playing in the Little League Classic against the Orioles. It was NOT injury related.**
Just a day after Franchy Cordero blasted a grand slam to lift the WooSox to victory, Cordero was pulled out of the lineup after two at-bats on Saturday afternoon.
Cordero will be headed back to Boston as Eric Hosmer was pulled out of the game due to an apparent injury.
Cordero will join the Red Sox in Baltimore for the series finale before heading back to Boston to face the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays to close out their home stand in August.
With Boston this year in 215 at-bats, Cordero has four home runs and 24 RBIs with an average of .219.
One of his four homers came back on May 22 when he hit a grand slam to help the Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 8-4.
Depending on the severity of the Hosmer injury will depend on how long Cordero will stay in the majors this go around.
