Connor Wong crushes his first career home run over the Green Monster seats
Connor Wong earned his opportunity in Boston after a massive month of August with the Worcester Red Sox.
On Friday night, Wong hit his first career major league home run over the Green Monster seats.
In the bottom of the eight inning, the rookie backstop connected for his 10th homer in 17 games (this includes his time with the WooSox).
Following the home run, he was met at the plate by veteran Kiké Hernandez who gave him a massive hug. Once Wong got into the dugout, he jumped into the home run cart, where his teammates hung him out to dry for a quick second before pushing him through the dugout.
Following the game, Wong spoke with Jahmai Webster about his first career dinger. "It was really nice. It wasn't a cheap one either, so that's even better,” said Wong.
Wong will look to make his case to be in the mix for a spot on the Red Sox roster in 2023.
