The Red Sox confirmed that Sale broken his left pinkie finger. Following the game manager Alex Cora was asked about if Sale will pitch again this season, “Hopefully, yeah. We just have to wait… We’ll probably know more tomorrow.”
Sale, who missed the entire 2021 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, also started this season on the injured list due to a stress fracture in his right rib cage and made his first MLB start on July 12 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
