After news broke earlier on Monday that Thomas Pannone would be leaving the Red Sox organization, the Worcester WooSox announced that Chris Murphy would be added to the roster to fill the roster spot that Pannone had left.
Pannone decided to request his release and it was granted. He will sign with the KIA Tigers of the Korean Baseball League.

“Very exciting. A lot to take in, a lot to consider but it feels right. Tough to leave this team after playing so close to home. It's what I have to do,” said Pannone on leaving the Red Sox organization.
Murphy, according to Baseball America is Boston’s number nine prospect, which ranks third among pitchers in the organization.
Murphy had 13 starts for the Portland Sea Dogs this year and posted a 2.58 ERA with 91 strikeouts over 72 and two-thirds innings.

Murphy’s 91 strikeouts ranks him second among Red Sox pitchers in the minors behind top pitching prospect Brayan Bello who has 106 strikeouts on the year.
Murphy also joins Bello and Brandon Walter to be promoted from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester this season.
As mentioned by Brendan Walter, of Blogging the Red Sox, Murphy can become eligible for the Rule 5 Draft for the first time in his career this winter if he is not added to Boston’s 40-man roster by the November deadline.
