The Worcester Red Sox have now dropped their ninth consecutive game after losing to the Rochester Red Wings, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, 9-5.
Ryan Fitzgerald and Jonathan Araúz both had two hits each, and Jeter Downs, another highly-touted prospected collected a hit and two walks.
Triston Casas and Rob Refsnyder both had an RBI while Fitzgerald had two RBI.
Carlos Martínez got his second start in Triple-A on Saturday night. He went three and two thirds, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one. He also allowed a home run. He now has a 20.77 ERA in four and a third innings of work with just four strikeouts in his first two starts.
His first start of the season was anything but memorable as the WooSox also lost that game. During that game, Martínez only worked two thirds of an inning and allowed five runs on four hits and two walks and exited the game with a 67.50 ERA.
If the WooSox want to avoid reaching double-digit losing streak they will need to find a way to defeat Rochester on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1:05 P.M.
