Windish delivers go-ahead double, Goodwin blasts fifth homer and Pitelli goes deep twice
Gatemen 4, Commodores 2
Hogan Windish smacked a go-ahead, two-RBI double in the top of the ninth to guide Wareham past Falmouth on Sunday night.
Cameron Weston (4-0) worked around a walk in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory. He provided three innings of relief, allowing just one hit, walking one and striking out two to pick up the win. The right-hander had taken over for starter Michael Sansone, who surrendered two runs on four hits while fanning six through six innings.
Deric Fabian also picked up a pair of RBIs for the Gatemen, singling home Ryan Campos and Carter Graham in the fourth.
The ‘Dores were held scoreless across the final six innings after Jackson Nicklaus’ sacrifice fly in the second and Peyton Stovall’s RBI groundout in the third. Falmouth mustered just five hits, all of which were singles.
Mariners 4, Whitecaps 3
Nick Goodwin hit his fifth home run of the season to lead Harwich over Brewster at Whitehouse Field.
Mac Guscette and David Smith hit back-to-back singles to lead off the fifth before Goodwin’s blast gave the Mariners a 3-1 lead. Cameron Fisher evened things with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth, but Cole Harting scored on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning to allow Harwich to reclaim the lead.
Fisher was a triple shy of the cycle for the Caps, tallying three of their six hits. Mariners starter Jonathan Santucci logged another strong outing, giving up just one run in five innings of work. He gave up four hits, did not walk anybody and struck out six.
Harbor Hawks 8, Firebirds 4
Dominic Pitelli blasted two home runs as Hyannis bested Orleans for the second time this season.
Pitelli led off the fourth with a solo shot and later had a two-run homer as part of the Hawks’ five-run sixth. The surge gave Ethan Hammerberg (2-0) the win, his second of the season.
Luke Keaschall went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs, a run and a double for the Birds, and Kevin Sim added a base hit to extend his hitting streak to seven games.
Red Sox 6, Anglers 6
Y-D was able to scratch across a run in the bottom of the ninth to salvage its meeting with Chatham, as the teams tied at Red Wilson Field.
Fernando Gonzalez and Luke Shliger each drew one-out walks before Chase Meidroth grounded into a fielder’s choice and Jack Costello, who pinch ran for Gonzalez, was able to score with the help of an error. Reliever Kristofer Bow did a great job of keeping Y-D in the game, allowing just one hit through three shutout innings. He struck out four.
Roc Riggio led the A’s with two hits and three RBIs, and Caden Grice, who has been used as a two-way player, went five innings out of the bullpen. He surrendered just one unearned run on two hits, walking two and fanning six.
Braves 7, Kettleers 3
Bryce Eblin had his third consecutive multi-hit game as Bourne defeated Cotuit for the second time in four days.
Eblin went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run, and Matt Shaw added a pair of hits and three RBIs. The Bravos erupted in the fifth inning, striking for five runs. Carson Jones had a two-RBI triple, Shaw had a two-run double and Eblin added an RBI single. Carter Trice’s three-run home run was the Ketts’ only offense of the night.
Neither team could get on the board through the first four innings, as both starters were dealing. Daniel Brooks (COT) allowed just one hit, walked one and struck out eight, while Cade Boxrucker (BOU) gave up four hits, two walks and picked up six strikeouts.
