Bryan Mata, who’s the Red Sox seventh ranked prospect and the organizations second ranked pitching prospect was back in real time action for the organization on Saturday evening for the Single-A Salem Red Sox.
Sources told Beyond the Monster back in May that when he was able to return, it would be with Salem to build momentum and regain confidence and the timetable to be in Salem would be for at least a couple of appearances.
Mata is coming off an UCL injury that had left him sidelined for a significant amount of time. At first, he was going to elect against surgery, but later underwent season ending Tommy John surgery that shut down his 2021 season.

For Salem on Saturday, Mata worked two innings allowing no runs on a hit while striking out two. He threw 45 pitches, 27 for strike.
Salem would defeat Columbia, 6-2, for the clubs fifth straight win. Nathan Hickey went one-for-four with two RBI. Phillip Sikes stole his eighth base of the year, while Marcelo Mayer stole his sixth of the year.
Salem goes for the series sweep over a lackluster Columbia squad on Sunday evening with first pitch slated for 5:05 P.M.
