Tyler Bertuzzi is already becoming a fan favorite with the Bruins. The newly acquired winger had an assist in his first game on Saturday.
The former Red Wing passed the puck to center Charlie Coyle that opened the scoring in the first period.
He also caught the attention of social media because of his hockey stick.
Bertuzzi was sent to the sin bin and the ESPN television feed showed that the top of his stick wasn’t taped up. Normally, hockey players tape up their sticks, Bertuzzi doesn’t subscribe to that theory.
Following the game, he was asked why he doesn’t tape the top of his stick.
“I’m lazy,” Bertuzzi told reporters, per WEEI.
Bertuzzi started going tape-less a little bit last season, and he’s been doing it more regularly this year.
