The Bruins trade left wing Jakub Lauko and the 122nd pick in the NHL draft to the Wild for right wing Vinni Lettieri and the 110th pick.
Lettieri returns to the Bruins organization after playing in Minnesota last season, where he scored five goals and had four assists in 46 games. He has one year left on his $775,000 two-way contract with a $550,000 guarantee.
Lauko had two goals last season and 10 points in 60 games for the Bruins. He has 17 points in 83 career games and has one year left on his deal for $787,000.
The Bruins would use the selection they acquired in the deal on Elliott Groenewold from Cedar Rapids RoughRiders with the 110th pick.
Lettieri offers the Bruins more depth at forward and could be sent to the Providence Bruins.
Following the trade, the Minnesota native shared a message on his Instagram.
“What an honor it was to play at home!” Lettieri wrote. “Thanks to my incredible teammates, organization, and all the fans that supported me along the way! Back to Boston!!”
Lauko was once projected to be a fourth-line player with the ability to play both wing spots. The 24-year-old became expendable with the emergence of Trevor Kuntar and Riley Duran, both potential options to earn spots to replace Lauko.
