Although the Boston Bruins 2024-2025 campaign has been full of ups and downs so far, they ended last week with a sense of optimism, with two straight wins. The Bruins got contributions from every line as they outscored the Flyers and Kraken 5-0. They also made history, as it marked the first time since November 2011 that the Bruins posted two straight shutouts. While there were many impressive performances to choose from, three players stood out.
Brad Marchand
After a slow start to the season, the Bruins captain has been a points machine. Marchand has six points in his last five games, including three goals. Due to his recent surge, Marchand has the second-most points on the team, trailing only David Pastrnak. While the Bruins need to improve in many areas, the recent production from Marchand, who is a crucial piece, has been a welcome sign.
Season Stats: 13 games, 3 goals, 7 assists, 10 points
David Pastrnak
Pastrnak has earned a spot on this list for the second straight week. The Bruins star has three assists in his last three games. While he was held scoreless against the Flyers and the Hurricanes, he continued to be in the center of the action on Saturday and Sunday. Despite all the inconsistency around him, Pasternak has continued to be a weapon head coach Jim Montgomery can rely on.
Season Stats: 13 games, 6 goals, 5 assists, 11 points
Joonas Korpisalo
On Saturday, Korpisalo put together one of the best performances from a Bruins goalie this season. The veteran netminder stopped all 20 shots he faced to help end the Bruins two-game skid in a 3-0 win over the Flyers. After struggling in his season debut, Korpsalo has looked much better of late. He has only allowed three goals in his last three starts.
Season Stats: 5 games, 2-2, 2.70 GAA, .894 SV %,
After ending the week with wins over the Flyers and the Kraken, the Bruins seem to be finding their groove. They will look to build on their success this week when they take on the Maple Leafs, Flames, and Senators. Of those three teams, only the Maple Leafs have more points than the Bruins.
