As the Bruins look to replenish their talent pipeline, they will need to be creative. With fewer resources due to the trade of draft picks over the years, they have reportedly shifted focus overseas to the KHL. The Bruins have shown interest in talented winger Maxim Tsyplakov, according to 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Ty Anderson.
In 54 games for Spartak, the 25-year-old scored 29 goals and recorded 41 points. On January 23rd, he put together his latest masterpiece, scoring four goals. Due to his stellar play, Tsyplakov finds himself in impressive company.
Entering play on Wednesday, the talented forward ranked third in the KHL in goals. He trailed only Nikolay Goldobin, who had 31 goals, and Avangard Omsk’s Reid Boucher, who had 39 goals. He also ranked in the top 20 in points. He only needs nine more points, double his total from last season.
While Tsyplakov would be a great addition to the Bruins system, other teams are interested in his services. Their competition includes the Rangers, Coyotes, Maple Leafs, and Red Wings. That list should grow if he continues to be a scoring machine.
However, Tsyplakov brings more to the table than his ability to put the puck in the net. He is not afraid of throwing his body around and can play in any situation. In the KHL, he has gotten minutes on the power play and penalty kill.
Although Tsyplakov has been a human highlight reel, his decision won’t come until after the KHL season is over. That will likely be in March since Spartak has qualified for the Gagarin Cup Playoffs.
