The Boston Bruins placed Nick Foligno, Chris Wagner and Mike Reilly on waivers. All three players have cleared and are now on loan to the Providence Bruins, per CapFriendly.
Foligno is due $3.8 million, Wagner, $1.35 million and Reilly $3 million this season. With the three players now with the P-Bruins, the Bruins have a $4.775 million buried cap hit charge.
The Bruins were hoping that an NHL team would claim Foligno or Reilly but unfortunately that never materialized.
“The unknown is hard, right? I’ve been fortunate my entire career to not really have that, so it’s a different feeling,” said Foligno. “I’ve been on the other side of it where I’m the captain and talking to guys who have been put on waivers and trying to coach them. Now that the shoe’s on my foot, I gotta make sure I walk the walk as much as talk the talk and just do my job.”
There is a chance all three players could be back with the Bruins. With general manager Don Sweeney placing Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy on long term injured reserve, the Bruins would have the cap space to add the trio back.
