The Boston Bruins will have different looking lines tonight when they take on the Los Angeles Kings. First reported by Fluto Shinzawa of the Athletic, forward Jake DeBrusk will taking a seat due to being late for a team meeting.
Head Coach Jim Montgomery’s disciplinary action resulted Bruins looked a bit different at morning skate.
Taking DeBrusk’s place on the top line will be Milan Lucic. That change will also have veteran Patrick Brown making is Bruins debut as he take Lucic spot on the fourth line.
In his first three games back with Boston, Lucic is a -2 with one assist and has averaged 11:52 minutes of ice time. Brown has seen limited action since debuting in 2014 with the Carolina Hurricanes. The 31-year-old has 24 points in 138 career games.
For DeBrusk, this is not a great start for a contract year. The Bruins have expressed interest in wanting to get an extension done as he starts his seventh season.
The forward just turned 27 and is considered one of the veteran leaders for a young Boston team, so it is no surprise he is being held accountable by Montgomery.
Debrusk is coming off a career high 50 point season as he established himself as a top six forward on the team. Through three games he has no points yet to go along with 8 shots.
The 3-0 Bruins haven’t scored more than three goals in a game. However, they have been carried by strong defense and goaltending as they take on Adrian Kempe and the Kings. Getting DeBrusk back on track would go a long ways to producing more consistent offense. Puck drop tonight is at 10:30 ET.
