Dmitry Orlov has only been with the Bruins for five days and he’s already making an impact on the ice. The 31-year-old defenseman scored his first two goals as a member of the Bruins in the first period against the Flames Tuesday night.
Orlov lead the B’s down the ice while carrying the puck and sniped it over Daniel Vladar’s stick side at 4:47 for his first goal.
He wasn’t done and added his second goal as a member of the B’s at 13:39.
Orlov now was five goals on the season.
Boston acquired Orlov along with forward Garnet Hathaway from the Capitals on Thursday. The Bruins sent forward Craig Smith, 2023 first-round pick this year, a 2024 third-round pick, and 2025 second rounder back to the Caps.
It should be noted the Wild is retaining 25% of Orlov’s salary and received a fifth-round pick from Boston as compensation.
The acquisition of Orlov deepens the Bruins blue line as they push towards the NHL Playoffs.
