It had to happen eventually. Brayan Bello, the Red Sox top pitching prospect suffered his first loss of the year at the Triple-A level, but still had an impressive showing.
The righty worked six innings allowing two runs on three hits, walked four and struck out eight in the WooSox 4-1 loss to Buffalo.
Bello allowed a two-run home run in the first frame of the game that put the WooSox up 2-0 early, luckily he would settle down after that.
Bello would then strike out two in the first, two in the third, two in the fifth, and then again two in the sixth prior to exiting the game to start the seventh inning.
On the year with Worcester, Bello is 3-1, with a 3.49 ERA in five games, all starts. He also has 42 strikeouts, the same around he had at Double-A Portland. However, Bello has only worked in 28.1 innings with Worcester, and while with Portland he worked 33.2 innings.
Bello has 84 strikeouts over 62 innings of work and is 7-3 with a 2.47 ERA in the minors this season.
A promotion for the righty could come after the All-Star break.
