Brayan Bello Domination Continues for Worcester
Sox top pitching prospect with another major milestone strikeout game.
Red Sox top pitching prospect Brayan Bello has done it all at every given chance this season at both Double-A and Triple-A. He continues to show everyone why he’s deserving of a much needed promotion to the bigs as he’s dominated at every level thus far this season.
Bello once hurled an eight strikeout performance for Worcester on Saturday afternoon against Syracuse. Bello worked five and a third inning allowing three runs on five hits walking one and striking out eight.
Bello was on his way to a 4-0 start for Worcester as he exited with the WooSox up 6-1, but after being pulled in the sixth inning, the pitching staff allowed Syracuse to tie the game up in the ninth inning at seven. It took a walk-off double by Roberto Ramos to give the club the 8-7 victory.
Bello holds a 3-0 record with a 3.63 ERA along with 34 strikeouts in just four starts at the Triple-A level. On the season, Bello has 76 strikeouts over 56 innings with a 7-2 record and a 2.41 ERA in 10 games.
Connor Wong finished a triple shy of the cycle for Worcester as he finished three-for-four with two runs, a home runs and three RBI.
Bello was featured on our prospect profile earlier in May, and when he was promoted it was noted that a call up to the majors could come soon if he stayed on top of his game.
Staying on top of his game is exactly what the young prospect has done thus far. He has proven that at any level he can compete and that he is indeed ready to compete with the AL East and the rest of the bigs for years to come.
