Bobby Dalbec’s strong day at the plate Sunday leads the WooSox to victory
Bobby Dalbec has torn the cover off the ball with the WooSox this season. The right-handed slugger turned out one of his best performances at the plate this season Sunday, he went 4-for-4.
Dalbec mashed his 31st home run, a triple and two-runs scored in the WooSox 12-1 win over the Rochester RedWings.
The 27-year-old’s blast came in the fifth inning off left-handed hurler Anthony Banda. Dalbec hammered a 1-1 changeup 414 feet. He trails Memphis slugger Luken Baker by two homers for the league lead. Baker has 33 blasts this season while hitting .334 with 98 RBI and owning an impressive 1.159 OPS.
Prior to Sunday’s offensive explosion, Dalbec had been struggling at the plate. He went 2-for-35 prior to collecting his four hits on Sunday. It was also the first time he’s homered since Aug. 13
Dalbec’s versatility has allowed skipper Chad Tracy to pencil him in all over the infield and in right field. His success this season has paid dividends for the WooSox both offensively and defensively.
Dalbec is hitting .275 with 70 RBI, 16 stolen bases and owns a .971 OPS this season.
